    Head Professional: Jonathan Dawes

Jon Dawes - Head ProfessionalJon Dawes grew up on Hayling Island, where his father was Head Professional at the Seacourt Club for 30 years. Jon turned Professional at the age of 19 in 1995 and joined the reopened Newmarket Club as Assistant Professional. In 1996 he was the first recipient of the T&RA's Basic Certificate of Proficiency and was awarded the Henry Johns Cup for the Best Young Professional in the same year. Later that year Jon transferred to Hatfield as Assistant Professional to Adam Phillips and succeeded Adam as Head Professional on his departure for Lords in January 2003.

Jon is a very talented player, whose tournament career has been hampered by injury. Nevertheless, he currently plays to handicap 1 and is a very competent, patient and analytical coach for both experienced players and newcomers to the game. Notable acheivements as a player include winning the Under 18 British Open, twice winning the Category A 0-9 Championship, winning the Taylor Cup, finalist in the British Open Under 24 Doubles, Finalist in the Under 21 British Open singles and Finalist in the British Open Doubles with Steve Virgona.

    Senior Professional: Ben Matthews

    Will Burns - Assistant Professional

Ben started as a trainee under Mark Coghlan in his home town of Bridport in 2002. In July 2006, he moved up to London to persue a playing career and under the guidance of the Ronaldsons and then Nick Wood, his game has gone from strength to strength. He won his first Open title in 2010, the US Open Doubles partnering Steve Virgona and looks forward to many more.  Ben became the No 5 ranked player in the world at the end 2011 earning him his first attempt at the World Championship eliminator, where he narrowly lost to Bryn Sayers 2 matches to 1.  Ben is currently ranked World No 6.

After a short stint at the Bordeaux club and Prested Hall, Ben joined us here at Hatfield in March 2012 as Senior Professional, where he hopes to contiue his progress as both a player and a Club Professional and has been a great addition to the club since his arrival.
